Maui Jungle Green home updates
Worst year with pigs and deer damage. Almost everyday for 4 months, repairing fences and yard. The deer have killed a couple new avocado trees, and papaya trees.Plants they don't eat, they bite off the top and pull out of the ground as they sample them.
I have about 1 acre fenced in. Some very steep areas, some very dense jungle areas... Deer go over, pigs go under but can also climb. Both can push through if forced. When I think its impossible for them to get through, they find another way! Very frustrating! I've used standard fence, pipe, roofing, etc... I also blocked the view with weed cloth, hoping the deer wouldnt jump, if they can't see.
I think I have stopped them for now anyway... Besides all fences repaired I put up a lot of high quality, 6' weedcloth in a few key areas, on hills and trails.
I started a new trail inside the fence. Up and behind the house, on the east side. I hope to clear out more of the strawberry guava and replace with better trees and plants.
Trail goes by the Century plants
Expanding more of the yard by flattening small hills. The yard is very rocky, but I can sift the rocks out and have good usable soil.
Just when I thought I had the deer and pigs under control, the rats move in and try to kill my coconut trees! I wrapped them with smooth metal which should keep them from climbing...
Nursery area
I like trying to grow any seeds I find
